I did everything right. My hormones didn't care.
The real, unfiltered story of how I stopped fighting my body at 46, and what finally changed.

01Chapter one
46 and done guessing
At 46, I hired a trainer.
I'd always been the health-and-wellness person, the one my whole family texts for advice. But perimenopause showed up like an uninvited houseguest and rearranged all the furniture.
I was lifting, eating well and doing the work, and my body was not getting the memo.

Lifting, still.
02Chapter two
The part nobody talks about
Then came estrogen dominance and uterine polyps. Surgery was on the table, and I really didn't want that to be my only option.
So I started working with a hormone specialist. We changed my diet. We added supplements. I followed the plan to the letter.
Nothing changed. Not my energy, not the inflammation, not the constant food noise in my head.
03Chapter three
The Zoom call that changed everything
A year later, I had a Zoom call with that same hormone specialist. She'd joined EllieMD and suggested something I never expected: a microdose of tirzepatide.
I'll be honest, I was SO skeptical. I'd seen the horror stories.
I only had 20 to 25 pounds I wanted to lose, so this wasn't about a massive transformation. I spent weeks researching before I said yes, and my provider recommended a low dose that fit my situation.
04Chapter four
When the noise went quiet
For me, the food noise went quiet. I hadn't realized how loud it was until it stopped.
I felt more focused than I had in years. My inflammation calmed down.
And without really planning it, I stopped social drinking. I'm now 16 months alcohol-free and counting, and I think that's been a big part of it too.
And the gym? I'm lifting heavier than ever and FINALLY seeing the results I worked so hard for.
Turns out muscle shows up when your body isn't fighting you every step of the way.
I hadn't realized how loud the food noise was until it stopped.Kelly
☕16 months alcohol-free & counting
The proof is in the (high-protein) pudding.

Strength training, protein, a lot of patience, a microdose prescribed by my provider, and 16 months without wine. Not overnight, and not magic, just consistent.
My personal results. Individual results vary, and this isn't a promise of what you'll experience.
05Chapter five
Real talk: it's not perfect
Not every day is perfect. My hormones still mess with me, and sleep is still a work in progress (if you've cracked the code, call me).
I'm not on HRT yet.
But managing all of it has gotten so much easier, and I finally feel like myself again.
06Chapter six
From struggling to coaching
This journey lit a fire. I went back to school to become a certified health coach, I'm finishing my nutrition course now, and I'm working on more certifications.
Then I opened my coaching business, because no woman should have to figure this out alone the way I did.
- Certified Health & Wellness Coach
- Plant-Based Nutrition Certificate, eCornell
- Additional certifications in progress
07Chapter seven
The ripple effect
My people are my everything: my husband, our pups, my grown kids and my family.
And something amazing happened. As I got healthier, they did too.
Healthier habits are contagious. The good kind of contagious.

My people, my everything.
Who this is for (and who it isn't)
This is for you if:
- You're doing "all the right things" and your body isn't responding
- Perimenopause has you feeling like a stranger in your own skin
- Food noise runs your day and willpower isn't the problem
- You want to get strong, not just smaller
- You're skeptical and want honest info, not hype
- You're ready to put in the work with real support
This isn't for you if:
- You want a magic shot so you never have to lift or eat protein
- You're looking for a quick fix before a wedding next week
- You'd rather follow TikTok horror stories than talk to a licensed provider
- You're not ready to build habits that last
- You want someone to yell at you. I'm supportive, not a drill sergeant
